I had to run to school, this morning, and I hated it. I woke up early for some last minute studying. And now I was in danger of being late. I wasn't watching where I was going, and ran into a kid in a grey alien costume. He stood on the street looking puzzled.
"Sorry about that. Awesome costume, by the way," I said to him but he continued to stare at me. "I pointed at him, "It's the best one I've ever seen." I rummaged around in my book bag until I found my clown mask and red wig. I didn't want to wear mine to school. I'll put it on for the Halloween party later" He blinked at me and pointed to what looked like a shiny silver space ship hidden behind a hedge. I gasped and pointed to the sky, "No way! A real alien!" The alien nodded and mimicked me. "Wow!" I said. All thoughts of school were completely forgotten. He pointed at his ship. I nodded. Then he spoke in a screechy language. He moved his arm first in a straight line then it sloped down . He crashed his ship. "Too bad, you can't take it to my Dad's shop. He can fix anything." I said. The alien stared at me blankly. I tried to mime fixing his ship. The alien nodded. He mimed something, but I held up my hands in confusion. He let out a screechy sigh. I heard the bell ring. I was going to be late. "I'm sorry I have to go." The alien let out a sad little screech. I turned back to him, “I’ll be come back later," I called while sprinting towards the building. Nearly lunchtime and I was stuck in my math class. I was bored and looking idly out the window, when I see a little grey head and big bright eyes looking up at me I gesture for him to go away. How did he find me? He stayed put and I hoped he wouldn't get caught. As soon as class was finished, I ran out to look for him. He beckoned me to come with him. "OK, but I've only got an hour for lunch." Next class is a history test, I can't miss it," I said even though I didn't know how much he could understand. We walked back to his ship. He had been scrounging supplies from somewhere nearby. I recognized parts from a laptop and maybe a microwave. He handed me a flashlight and pointed to his ship. I held it for him as he worked underneath. He let out sounds must have been alien swear words, every now and again. When he finished, he gestured to me like he was offering me a ride. I was about to say yes. I really wanted to say yes. The bell rang again, and I snapped into focus. What was I thinking? I couldn't leave my life. I would have take my history test. I would have to stay here. I waved goodbye to him reluctantly. He waved back and I stood there wondering if we would see each other again. I'm participating in the Storytime Blog Hop.
